I did it!

I made the cutest little note/gift tags! And after that I tackled these little Valentine pillow boxes. With all the scrapbook paper I have been hoarding it only took a few minutes to pull out and start matching the papers together.

The color combination of many of papers are companion prints so it won't be hard for me to make more of the boxes with stripes and florals, or stripes and the argyle. Of course they won't be traditional red/pink as most Valentine's are but who cares!

I am stepping out of the box and they passed the "La test"!

Birthday Greetings!

>> Saturday, January 24, 2009

Well yesterday was my youngest son's birthday. Hard to believe he turned 17 and as always, I wonder where in the heck did the time go.

Born at 1:55 in the afternoon he arrived with light blondish red hair and was perfect in every way. He has grown into a budding teen with a love of the outdoors. He loves hunting, fishing, camping, mudding in the red ranger, dirtbiking with one of his 3 yamaha's, bike riding, hanging out with his friends, working on his truck and texting on his phone. And most days he always home to eat dinner and work the jumble with us.

Depending on what he's doing or where he's going there always seems to be a friend in tow. He has a great personality and he gets along with everyone.

Tonight we will celebrate by letting him choose his fav restaurant and pick up his cake from Apple Annie's.

Here's to many more birthday's son - Love you!

A New President

>> Tuesday, January 20, 2009

A new day. President Obama has taken office.

I think we all have high hopes that his term will bring a much needed change to our country, not only in how others perceive us but how we as a nation see ourselves. My hope is he will improve our economy, encourage and support new energy ideas, improve relations with other countries and of course unite our congress for the betterment of our nation.

He has a huge task ahead and time will only tell if he will be just "another" President or one who will go down in history as a great President!

Paper crafting

>> Saturday, January 17, 2009

Several weeks ago while aimlessly surfing the net I ran a across several Paper crafting related blogs. I was impressed by the amount of creativity and how huge this craft is becoming. I have always loved looking at the scrapbooking paper but have never really taken the plunge mainly because the thought of going through all the pictures I have stored in various places is well... overwhelming to say the least.

Over the last several years I have been guilty however of buying paper and stockpiling it in a drawer. So.. after spending hours last Saturday going from site to site gathering ideas I think I'm ready to try something. After seeing all the talent out there though it is a little humbling - after all what if I can't pull it off or make anything worth blogging about?

Not to mention I know nothing about how to even get started - do I rubber stamp? make cards? or what!

I need a plan. What to try to do first. What do I need to get and much do I want to invest. I know I want some punches - they will be versatile - I can figure out something to do with them. After that it gets a little complicated. I would love to get a cricut so I could make gift boxes, etc. but not sure if I want to go to the expense unless I can come up with other ideas for it's use. I don't really want to make cards but I think the little note cards people are making are really cute!

Indecision....indecision....indecision. I need that cricut!

Savvy I say!

Blogging is new business to me so it's no small wonder I haven't been too diligent with keeping up with mine. I actually discovered blogging after being referred to a friend's blog in Sept 07. I was pretty impressed she had set one up much less was promoting her business on it. I jumped right in and made myself a little blog too.

Over the holiday's my daughter set up a little Christmas Blog for us and our extended family to keep up with our name drawing present exchange. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the posts and made an effort to check on it every couple of days. Same went with Anna's blog and keeping up with her family's antic's with new baby Carly and big sister Rachel. What fun!

Last night I decided to add some things to my blog like all the items on the sidebar. Boy not being too computer literate made the task slow going. I hung in there(after 2 hours of reading how to do's on the net.)

Savvy I say and I love the results...and I'm still searching for other interesting tidbits to add as well!

Ahhh....a new year!

Well today got me thinking about the upcoming months and what I need to do now to start getting ready!

1st thing I need to do will be to move my straw bale raised beds to another location.
2nd thing I need to ponder is whether or not I am going to get a few more hens for Trev's egg selling business.

More people have been asking for our eggs and we simply cannot keep up with the demand. People really want a healthier egg. Free range eggs. So I need to start researching what kind of hen would be the best fit for us.

I've always liked the Rhode Island Reds and the Barred Plymouth Rocks so they are my top picks. The Hardware store will get them in the spring and I'll need to be ready by then.

Kinda of exciting. No roosters - just hens. Seeing how I already have a very feisty bantam mix rooster who is most unpleasant 99.5% of the time unless of course he's hungry. I'll try to get a picture of my flock - they do look so cute out in the yard scratching and meandering along!
