Birthday Boy

>> Saturday, January 23, 2010

I climbed the steps up to his bedroom this morning at 0750. I leaned over, gave him a kiss and wished him Happy 18th Birthday. Then, I leaned over again and gave him another kiss, wishing I could keep him this way forever. Wishing, we could go back to the days of kindergarden and do it all over again when we'd play "our" game, "popajay, popajay", or he would place his feet atop mine, so we could walk together. Since we've moved to the country, one of my favorite things for him to say in the evenings has been, "Let's go outside and survey the ranch", and we would, walking arm in arm or hand in hand, looking over the property, dreaming of what we'd build and not caring what passerbys might think of us. Ahh, such good times and happy memories!

So, today is the day. #18. This coming year will be so exciting for him as he starts his little cabin in the woods, works on the boat with his Dad and plans his next hunting season.

Yep, a new day to start making more fun memories!

Happy Father's Day!

To my children,

Today is Fatar's Big Day....he is out mowing the lawn - looking kinda of hot and sweaty as the sun is shinning brightly. And it is a bit warm and toasty. I'm sure if he were to be a blog writer wanna-be this is what he would have to say:

He has the 3 best children in all the land, of which, he is very proud of.

Remember when he took you, Laurie, driving all over the state, to something like 3 concerts in 3 days -just so you could see the Hanson Brothers? Waiting hours outside or in line, while you took in the thrill of a lifetime!

And you, Aaron, remember Dad spending countless hours in the car? Week in and week out, standing on the sidelines to cheer you on, in your most favorite sport of all...soccer!

And lastly you, Trevor, do you remember you and Dad sitting in 0 degree weather on a W.Va hillside? His (and yours too) butt and toes freezing all in hopes that you would bag your first deer on your very first real hunting trip!

Yes, having a father is a wonderful thing. One who loves is priceless.

My Day

>> Sunday, May 10, 2009

Today is my day, Mother's Day. As I look back over the years, I know it was my true calling to be a mother because I loved motherhood from the moment I became one.

February 12, 1983. As I held my first born and looked down at my sweet little daughter Laurie, I was overwhelmed with love. Four years later, I wondered if I had enough love to give another child.

April 13, 1987. When Aaron was placed in my arms, I need not have wondered as my heart burst with love for my first born son. Five years later with the impending birth of my third child, I wasn't worried.

January 23, 1992. Gazing down at Trevor, I took in the sweet smell of a newborn for my last time. Bittersweet, as I knew he would be my last child. I loved my littlest boy!

I have loved taking walks in the rain, reading books curled up on the couch, playing man-shop and barbies, working puzzles, making costumes, going to the movies, looking for turtles, chasing away scary dreams, healing hurts, going to horse shows, watching videos, playing lego's, helping with last minute school projects(and arguing), going to school functions, listening to band concerts, attending sports events, watching dirt bike tricks, going shopping, getting hugs and kisses and...most of all...just being a Mom!

Yes, it's a good day to be a Mom♥♥♥♥

Skronsk

>> Monday, April 13, 2009

Birthday greeting to my "middle son", aka as Skronsk or Aaronus, son of Aaroni as La would call him.

So this is how it went on the day you were born:

3 am - water broke, Me and your Dad very excited, but don't know what the day will bring. We are hoping for a natural birth and not another c-section.

7 am - admitted to hospital, labor cranks up and yes it was labor, and lots of pain and misery to go with it.

2:32 - You're here and we are so excited to have our little "Buddy row" (which was your original name by the way). You are long and lean, weighing it at 8 lbs 8oz and 22 inches long. Lots of light brown reddish hair. I bask in the whole birth experience and my heart is filled with love for you.

Your childhood filled us with joy and pride as you amazed us with your steel trap memory. Reciting the alphabet by the time you were 2, learning the planets, singing Randy Travis songs and learning all the GI Joe names by age 4. Not to mention learning all about dinosaurs, the state capitals and capitals of all the countries by the time you were 7. Then came your love of Basketball and the "lists" you were so fond of composing. Remember the Phoenix Suns and Charles Barkley? Shooting 3's? Basketball faded to Soccer and the years that followed..training, visiting Italy and countless hours spent "scoring" in a make believe goal. When you decided to play the Trombone, I have to say I was skeptical that you would be ever learn to play it. But, how we loved going to hear you play in the Jazz band! And somewhere along this time you developed your love of birds and bird watching, you remember the platform feeder we built? I can still see it now, under the Dogwood tree on Bonham Ave.

You continue to delight us with your mandolin, ukulele, song writing, and birding talents! We are so very proud of you, love when you come home to visit with us and so happy to wish you the Big 22 Birthday!!

You are handome, talented and opinionated.
Stay that way son!

Birthday Girl...2-12

>> Saturday, February 14, 2009

Thursday was the big day for La! 26 yrs old. I don't have to tell you how fast the time has flown by. It seems only yesterday I was checking into the hospital to have my first baby who chose to come into the world butt first.

Born at 1:06 pm and weighing a mere 6lbs 15oz she was only 19 ins long with reddish blond hair. She was dainty, beautiful and we loved her instantly!

From girly bows and pony tails to "I love Purple", Lady Katy, shopping, Top ten in her class, going off to NCSU, decorating her first apartment, getting Emma Grace and all the other great things she has been through and accomplished it has been a absolute delight to be her parents!

We are so proud of our La!

Birthday Greetings!

>> Saturday, January 24, 2009

Well yesterday was my youngest son's birthday. Hard to believe he turned 17 and as always, I wonder where in the heck did the time go.

Born at 1:55 in the afternoon he arrived with light blondish red hair and was perfect in every way. He has grown into a budding teen with a love of the outdoors. He loves hunting, fishing, camping, mudding in the red ranger, dirtbiking with one of his 3 yamaha's, bike riding, hanging out with his friends, working on his truck and texting on his phone. And most days he always home to eat dinner and work the jumble with us.

Depending on what he's doing or where he's going there always seems to be a friend in tow. He has a great personality and he gets along with everyone.

Tonight we will celebrate by letting him choose his fav restaurant and pick up his cake from Apple Annie's.

Here's to many more birthday's son - Love you!
